Hey Dex Followers!
We wanted to keep our community involved and be as transparent as possible with how we are doing, as well as our roadmap going forward!
We have made huge strides since last March when we first started to get the ball rolling. Obviously COVID-19 hit us all hard, and we had to face some tough decisions and make some cutbacks and go into a sort of “hibernation” as we waited it all out and had funding cut. We couldn’t afford to upkeep a lot of our staff and facilities, and most of our staff couldn’t wait for us to make money and had to be let go or find other jobs to pay the bills, understandably so.
Fast forward to November of 2020 and we’d only made a small amount of sales. People loved our product, but the budget just wasn’t there to let everyone know! We had to make do and try to find more funding.
Now, earlier this year, we gained enough interest to get some more backing for this really cool project and undertaking! We have since been able to slowly get back on to our Twitter and remain somewhat active on there, as well as get some sales rolling again.
The most exciting news is that we now have some streamer partners!
GypC: twitch.tv/iGypC Primarily an Apex and Beauty Twitch Streamer
HawaiizYETI: Twitch.tv/hawaiizyeti Primarily a Call of Duty and Just Chatting Streamer
With several more in the works!
We hope to be able to reach our goals once more, albeit a bit more slowly. Our roadmap, goals, and dreams are as follows:
Design and Options:
So far we are getting base compression sock designs made in limited numbers and limited designs, with no branding, to make sure the interest is still there. Once we get more sales, we anticipate that we can start getting our branding on everything, as well as more designs and options that our wonderful community has already suggested!
We use simple, recyclable plastic packaging to keep our socks “fresh” and affordable. This plastic packaging isn’t the best option, as not everyone can recycle it in their areas. However, we do want to move to a more sustainable cardboard packaging, as well as more eco-friendly plastic/plant-based packaging solutions.
We currently use USPS for all shipping needs. If packages go outside the U.S., they are passed off to local carriers after that. USPS is the most affordable option, by far. FedEx and UPS have better track records and consistency, but they are about 3-4x more expensive, and we can’t afford that at our volume. Once we start shipping in much higher volumes, we want to negotiate with them on better pricing so that we can offer you the best shipping time and experience.
At this time, we have a very small customer service team managed by one and a half of us (luckily there haven’t been many issues over the last few months). We know as businesses grow that they are prone to having more errors, and we are well aware of this fact and will scale customer service as needed!
We definitely want to sponsor game tournaments with different prizes as we move forward. We have already reached out about a few games, including Apex Legends!
Thanks to all who have kept up with us, and thanks to all the new people who continue to make Dex Gaming Gear possible! We hope to make the entire industry healthier and happier with our products!
